De naam The Hammer verwijst naar hamer omdat deze golfstok is ontworpen om met één hand te slaan. Daardoor kan men vanaf nagenoeg alle moeilijke posities de bal slaan naar een betere plaats op de fairway.
Deze golfstok kan u een aantal slagen per 18 holes besparen, waardoor u uw wedstrijd kunt winnen. Door de korte shaft heeft u nagenoeg geen backswing en kunt u desondanks de bal een 50 meter verplaatsen. Omdat u maar één arm gebruikt kunt u zelfs een bal slaan vanachter een boom terwijl uw lichaam achter de boom blijft. Om tal van redenen wordt deze stok daarom een Trouble Master genoemd.Vanwege de lengte hangt u deze stok in de speciale foedraal aan de buitenzijde van uw golftas.
